Steve
Brown was an Elk.  He lived and loved the Order, bringing to every
meeting and every encounter with his brothers the values which are
spoken in our ritual and lived, by the best, in day to day life.
I
will always remember Steve sitting in the dining area, in 'his' chair,
suspenders in rampant evidence, with a smile lurking behind his eyes,
along with his quirky sense of humor there dwelled a love of his fellow
man which accepted imperfection and folly.
I
remember his savoring his dessert, the requisite container of ice
cream, and occasionally rolling his eyes at the absurdities so often
encountered while in company with his brothers.
I was his brother and enjoyed every moment of our time together, either in the dining room or in the tiled lodge room.
I
remember the tears which always came to my eyes when he rose to
remember the emptied chair of a fellow Elk, gone from our presence, but
never forgotten.
Steve
was my mentor from the time I joined to Order until he died, even after
I left the Lodge.  I can never count the number of times I would ask
myself, "What would Steve say, what would he do at this moment?"   He
never failed me.
God Bless you. Steve.  Never forgotten.
